Healthy kidneys let through very little albumin, and one urine ratio measures how much is passing.
The urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio measures how much albumin, a blood protein, is passing into the urine. Healthy kidneys let through very little; a ratio above 30 mg/g is higher than normal and may be a sign of kidney disease.
The protocol
| Units | mg/g |
| Standard range | < 30 mg/g (normal); 30–300 (traditionally called microalbuminuria); > 300 (traditionally called macroalbuminuria) (ranges vary by lab) |
| <30 | normal |
| >300 | higher than normal (traditionally macroalbuminuria) — see clinician |
| 30-300 | higher than normal (traditionally microalbuminuria) — see clinician |
| Testing | every year if you have diabetes; ask about it if you have high blood pressure |
| Clinician | a result above 30 mg/g is a reason to talk to your clinician |

Healthy kidneys let through very little albumin, and one urine ratio measures how much is passing. Under thirty milligrams per gram is normal. Thirty to three hundred is higher than normal, and so is anything above three hundred — both are a reason to talk to your clinician. Tested every year with diabetes; ask about it with high blood pressure. agegen.ai. Generate your prime age! ~~ Mr. Age
